Armin Mueller-Stahl is a German film actor, painter, writer and musician. He was a successful film, television and stage actor in East Germany for many years. Mueller-Stahl made his American film debut as Jessica Lange's father in Music Box (1989) and from there countless roles but he is best known for his role in Shine (1996) and Eastern Promises (2007).
