Chris Columbus is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Columbus is known for such movies as The Goonies, Gremlins, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Home Alone, the last receiving a British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Film. He is also known as the director who began the "Harry Potter" film series, directing the first two films in the eight film series. As a producer, he received an Academy Award nomination for his film The Help.
