Dirk Beliën is a Belgium film director. He started his career as a copywriter. His first screenplay Jingle Bells, based on a true story. It earned him a nomination in 1993 for the VRT-script contest. In 1997 he wrote and directed his second short film: Strong coffee. His third short film, Fait D'Hiver, followed in 2002. Tom Van Dyck played the role of a stressed businessman stopped in a traffic jam. It was nominated for an Oscar. He worked closely on all his films with screenwriter Johan Verschueren.
