Meryl Streep is an American actress who has worked in theater, television, and film. She is widely regarded as one of the most talented actors of all time. She holds the record for the most acting Academy Award nominations. She made her film debut with Julia (1977). Both critical and commercial success came quickly with roles in The Deer Hunter (1978) and Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) , The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981), Sophie's Choice (1982), Silkwood (1983), Out of Africa (1985), Ironweed (1987), A Cry in the Dark (1988), Postcards from the Edge (1990), Marvin's Room (1996), Adaptation. (2002), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), The Iron Lady (2011), and August: Osage County (2013) and many more. She was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2004 and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2011 for her contribution to American culture through performing arts, the youngest actor in each award's history. She was awarded 2010 National Medal of Arts.
