Joe Letteri is an American senior visual effects artist, winner of multiple Academy awards, BAFTA awards and VES awards. He is the current Director of the Academy Award-winning Weta Digital, having joined the company in 2001. He has been the visual effects supervisor of several movies, including such films as; The Abyss (1989), Jurassic Park (1993), Daylight (1996), Magnolia (1999), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), I, Robot (2004), King Kong (2005), The Lovely Bones (2009), Avatar (2009), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), The Adventures of Tintin (2011), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013).
