Oktapodi is a 2007 French computer-animated short film that originated as a graduate student project from Gobelins L'Ecole de L'Image. The film is about a pair of lovestruck octopuses which, through a series of comical events, is separated and reunited. Oktapodi was directed by Julien Bocabeille, François-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Thierry Marchand, Quentin Marmier and Emud Mokhberi and the music was composed by Kenny Wood.
The course of true love never did run smooth. Two octopuses entwine in an embrace when a hand reaches from above, plucks them out of the water, disentangles them, tosses the male back in what we now see is a small aquarium, puts the female in a cold storage box, and heads for a delivery truck. The male octopus recovers from the initial shock and gives pursuit, grabbing the back of the truck as it leaves, then working himself to the front. As the driver tries to thwart his efforts to save his woman, the truck careens through the small coastal town. Will he succeed? Do other perils await?
