Todd Black is an American film producer. Born in Dallas and raised in Los Angeles, Black attended the theatre program at the University of Southern California and began his entertainment career as a casting associate. In 1995, Black became President of Motion Picture Production at Sony’s Mandalay Entertainment. In January 2001, Black, along with his partner Jason Blumenthal, merged with the Steve Tisch Company to form Escape Artists, an independently financed company housed at Sony Pictures. Their credits include A Knight’s Tale, The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds, The Taking of Pelham 123, Knowing, and Hope Springs. He has a long collaboration with actor, Denzel Washington. Titles to his credit include; Wrestling Ernest Hemingway (1993), A Knight's Tale (2001), Antwone Fisher (2002), The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), Hope Springs (2012), and Fences (2016).
